Job Description
Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Quality Capability Specialist. The successful incumbent will be based in the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Head Offices, reporting directly to the Group Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Manager. The successful candidate will ensure provide strategic direction, support and guidance to all SHEQ functions to drive compliance with all CCBA and The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) requirements related to quality and food safety.Ensuring that appropriate, sustainable outcomes are achieved and developing in-country capability in all aspects of quality and the environment with emphasis on Greater African countries. Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40 percent of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. CCBA is a market leader in the NARTD (non-alcoholic ready to drink market) in Africa. CCBA has an extensive footprint in Africa, employing over 15 000 employees.Key Duties & Responsibilities
Guidance for Management, Implementation and Maintenance of SHEQ Systems: Providing access to resources and tools to implement Quality and Food Safety Systems. Planning, tracking and communicating Business System goals in line with Business Plans Providing support to Country Supply Chain departments to prepare for audits and to close out corrective action Plans Offering technical support and guidance relating to SHEQ matters in new CAPEX projects Ensuring in-trade market surveys and SHEQ support to Customer Services Providing guidance and enforcing implementation and maintenance of SHEQ systems (with reference to QA systems) Providing guidance and supporting to the operations when producing new products and/or new processes, e.g review new product trial outcomes. Liaising with The Coca-Cola Company and BU to improve the commercialisation processes. Provide Guidance and Support to Ensure Product Quality and Food Safety: Enforcing laboratory efficiency and good laboratory practices and routines Ensuring that Quality issues are investigated with proven root cause methodology used Monitoring trends and investigate continuous deviations Setting minimum requirements for laboratory layouts, equipment, methods and testing regimes (where CCBA standard is stricter than KO) Track and monitor sustainability measures: Reviewing plant targets for all measures against KO and HQ objectives as well as previous performance Monitoring trends in quality data against plant and group targets Monitoring compliance and progress against Quality Policies, e.g Quality Leading Indicators Monitoring Greater Africa Operations compliance and corrective action close out status Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives and Ensure Alignment with CAPEX Projects: Providing guidance to Quality areas as part of overall SC excellence models, e.g. Manufacturing Way. Identifying improvement opportunities. Offering technical support and guidance relating to SHEQ matters in new CAPEX projects Ensuring all validations of production equipment are done as per KO requirements Assisting plants to evaluate lab equipment for compliance against TCCC and CCBA standards. Liaising with CCBA IT department in terms of the digitilisation process Capability Development: Providing in-country capability building with emphasis on Greater Africa countries, especially newly acquired plants and/or new lines and processes. Working with CoE’s for Quality and Food Safety to accelerate capability building across CCBA or establish CoE’s in East Africa where required. Providing input into the selection of SHEQ candidates. Where necessary, establish a COP to solve quality problems or improve processes. Providing a training plan for new SHEQ managers and liaise with management regarding on-boarding process Ensuring that KO training material is incorporated into CCBA capability building initiatives Providing coaching and mentoring to operational SHEQ staff Technical training material to be developed and available for Product and Package quality improvement or for General Knowledge improvement e.g new processes.Skills, Experience & Education
Education Minimum – BSc in Food Science or equivalent Advantageous - Honours in Food Science Degree or equivalent PLUS a business qualification (postgraduate diploma/ certificate an added advantage) Experience: Minimum 5 years work experience in a management position within the bottling industry or food industry (SHEQ experience a prerequisite) Advantageous - SHEQ experience at senior management level within a bottling environment.
