The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, open rank Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds. Applicants will be considered for the titles of assistant lecturer, lecturer, senior lecturer, instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, instructional professor, associate professor of practice, and professor of practice level. The successful applicant must have teaching expertise in environmental engineering and will teach primarily at the undergraduate level in support of the development of the undergraduate degree program in environmental engineering; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Since the environmental engineering degree program is new and some of the courses will have to be created for fall 2021, the anticipated start date of the position will be June 1, 2021. Qualifications
For appointments at Associate Professor of the Practice or Professor of the Practice, applicants must have, at the minimum, an earned bachelor level degree, substantial experience for professor of practice level titles and a significant amount of professional experience practicing with a specialty in environmental engineering.
For appointments at Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Professor applicants must have a masters or doctoral degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline.
All applicants are required to have specific experience in both technical and non-technical aspects in the design, critical evaluation, and communication of projects appropriate for a two-semester capstone design course sequence. Experience in environmental unit operations theory and function, such as water and wastewater treatment, air pollution, remediation, and other related processes, will be expected. The ability and interest to teach courses that may have laboratory and/or field components will be a priority.
