Following the delinking process in 2019 and the subsequent transition of the Resident Coordinator system from UNDP to the UN Secretariat, the United Development Coordination Office (DCO) was established by the Secretariat to oversee all the Resident Coordination Offices (UNRCOs) around the globe.
Despite the administrative transition process, specific operational support is still being required in each country from UNDP. The UNDP CO in Brazil is determined to provide such operational services to the UNRCO under a specific service level agreement. In this regard, the Driver position seeks to meet an administrative / logistics demand of the UNRCO.
The Driver will be located in the UN Resident Coordinators’ office as part of the RCO team, with a direct reporting line to the Administrative Associate of UNDP, and a secondary line to the UN Resident Coordinator.
Under the guidance and supervision of his/her direct supervisor, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the UN Resident Coordinator and other high-ranking UN officials and visitors, ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Description:
- Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by:
- Driving office vehicles for the transport of the UN Resident Coordinator;
- Upon request, the Driver can be also required to provide driving services to other staff in the UNRCO, high-ranking officials and visitors, as well as UN official personnel, experts/consultants on mission.
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
- Provides administrative and logistical support as required compatible with the level of the post to:
- Provide support to Archive physical and Digital documents
- Provide support to administrative tasks.
- Perform basic office related tasks such as filing and photocopying.
- Prepare Monthly Reports of the activities under responsibility.
- Give assistance to the office Inventory Count and Verification.
- Make small quotations of products and services.
- Delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
- Provide support with visa and customs formalities arrangements when required.

Education:
- Secondary education.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of work experience as a driver.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Defense Driving Course will be considered an advantage.
Languages:
- Fluency in Portuguese.
- Basic knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of other UN language will be considered an asset
