Director. Operations

Purpose of the position


The Operations Director is responsible for:

  • Creating and implementing Division Operations strategy
  • Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Capacity and Production Management
  • Facilities Management
  • Production Engineering and New Product Introduction
  • Quality Assurance
  • Ownership of Operations Business Processes
  • Develop and deliver mid to long term factory footprint strategy in line with the MAU growth strategy
  • Responsible for implementing the Code of Conduct process in the site

The Operations Director will develop and continuously improve the safety, delivery capability, quality and productivity of the {Division} Operations. This includes ensuring that the operation has the correct level of competence, motivation and efficiency in order to be competitive and meet profitability, quality and growth objectives. Responsible for developing and delivering the long term Business line E2E Supply growth strategy and delivering the Hiab Business line demand plan, in with the MAU PD & S-Q-D-I-P Level1 KPIs.


Key accountabilities:


Safety

  • Promoting the importance of Environmental, Health and Safety culture, with the responsibility of securing own and co-workers’ safety and health at all times in line with the Company’s Health and Safety statement, policy and Risk Assessments.

Quality

  • Responsibility and ownership of MAU product quality processes and drawing specifications in line with customer expectations.
  • Embrace a zero defects and right first time culture within an overall total cost of quality framework

Delivery

  • Develop long and short-term capacity plans in order to meet customer demand.
  • Secure resources and competencies to manage the strategy and day to day operations.
  • Ownership of the SMR/ S&OP process to balance Supply to Demand
  • Develop long and short-term capacity plans in order to meet customer demand.

Inventory

  • Ensure the delivery of a material replenishment strategy in line with the MAU inventory policy

Productivity

  • Determine and implement annual plans and budget in order to achieve overall strategic objectives.
  • Develop and monitor performance goals (KPI’s) in order to achieve overall financial targets and initiate corrective and preventive actions when necessary.
  • Create and embrace a true culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Develop and deliver a sustainable operations roadmap so as to embrace Industry 4.0 and digitization for the MAU.
  • Develop and monitor performance goals (KPI’s) in order to achieve overall financial targets and initiate corrective and preventive actions when necessary.
  • Implement World-class principles in order to secure the most cost efficient production in the business.
  • Direct, support and coach your teams in order to secure continuous improvement of the right competencies, efficient working methods and stimulating working environment.

People

  • Bring to life each day our HIAB values and demonstrate these behaviors in his / her leadership style.
  • Direct, support and coach your teams in order to secure continuous development of the right competencies, efficient working methods and stimulating working environment.
  • Secure resources and competencies to manage the strategy and day to day operations.

What you’ll need to succeed:


Education:

  • Third level degree and/or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or business discipline.

Experience:

  • Third level degree and/or Master’s degree in a relevant business discipline.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant Industrial experience (truck, construction machines, agriculture, automotive, aerospace, FMG) in production and supply chain management.
  • At least 5-7 years within a modern factory management role, with 3 to 5 years of which should be at Senior Management level, within a multinational, global company.
  • Awareness of the importance of Health and Safety, with the responsibility of securing own and co-workers’ safety and health at all times in line with the Company’s Health and Safety statement, policy and Risk Assessments.
  • In depth knowledge of the principles of Lean Manufacturing and how it supports the overall business strategy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with drive and initiative.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience, to achieve full alignment of each individual team member’s performance with the business strategy and goals.
  • Experience of working within a unionized environment would be beneficial and in dealing with disputes and grievances that may arise.
  • Cross functional experience between the Supply function, R&D, Sourcing and Sales & Service.
  • Flexible to travel if required.
